The Glücks

EN   -  Alek and Tina first met in a blues band, but it soon became clear that they were destined to do their own thing, together. They bonded over a love for all things dirty and fuzzy: The Cramps, The Stooges, The Reatards, The Sonics, etc. Add to that the urge to get away from the “shithole” where they grew up, and you’ve got the recipe for infernal rock’n’roll. However, one ingredient was still missing before the Glücks could release all their might. Initially Tina was on vocals and Alek on guitar, but at one of their first live shows, Tina ended up behind the drums. BOOM! The Glücks were born.

Like a Belgian coastal Bonnie & Clyde, The Glücks’s renegade spirit leads to demonic live shows that can steer you in unpredictable directions. Past shows have involved blood, demolition, and physical confrontations. Anything can happen.

FR   -  Les regards d’Alek et Tina se sont croisés pour la première fois dans un groupe de blues. Instantanément, ils ont compris qu’ils devaient faire leur propre « truc » ensemble. Ils ont directement connecté autour de la musique fuzzy et dirty, à savoir : The Cramps, The Stooges, The Reatards, The Sonics, etc. A ceci s’ajoutant l’envie d’échapper du patelin perdu ou ils ont grandi et vous avez la recette pour du bon rock’n’roll infernal. Mais un ingrédient manquait toujours avant de pouvoir décrocher une étoile Michelin. Si initialement, Tina chantait et Alek jouait de la guitare, lors d’un de leurs concerts, Tina s’est soudainement mise derrière la batterie. BOOM ! The Glücks étaient nés. 
Tels des Bonnie & Clyde de la côte belge, l’esprit rebelle de The Glücks a donné naissance à des concerts démoniaques qui ont amené le public vers l’enfer de Dante : sang, démolition, confrontation physique. Tout peut arriver.
 

 

LICE (uk)

EN  - Formed in Bristol in 2016, LICE first won acclaim with performances alongside The Fall, Fat White Family, Giant Swan, Shame, and more, debuting a wiry brand of art-punk in their 2017 single “Human Parasite”. 
In 2018, IDLES, who took LICE on their “Brutalism” and “Unity” tours, released LICE’s “early-years” collection on their label Balley Records as the Double EP “It All Worked out Great, Vol. 1+2”. This led to support from radio tastemakers such as BBC 6Music’s Steve Lamacq and critical praise from the likes of The Guardian, The Quietus and Loud and Quiet.
The band followed this with international touring and festival appearances, including a French tour (with Drahla), Le Guess Who, Hop Pop Hop, Swn Festival, Tramlines, DIY Hello 2019 (headline), and Brits Week (100 Club supporting IDLES).
In October 2020 the band released their debut album “WASTELAND: What Ails Our People Is Clear”. A concept album featuring a noise instrument hand-built by the band (Intonarumori).

FR   -  Né à Bristol en 2016, LICE a pris son envol grâce à des tournées avec The Fall, Fat White Family, Giant Swan, Shame et bien d’autres groupes connus. Ils ont officiellement lancé leur marque de fabrique, le art-punk, en 2017 avec leur single 'Human Parasite'.
IDLES ont pris LICE sous leur aile à deux reprises. Non seulement ils les ont invités sur leur tournée 'Brutalism' and 'Unity', mais ils ont aussi sorti, sous leur label Balley Records, un double EP de LICE avec leurs premières compositions : ‘It All Worked out Great, Vol. 1+2’. Ceci a directement attiré l’attention de de sommités telles que Steve Lamacq sur BBC6 Music et des critiques dithyrambiques de la presse parmi lesquelles The Guardian, The Quietus ou encore Loud and Quiet.
LICE a ensuite enchaîné avec une tournée internationale (notamment avec Drahla) et des performances sur des festivals réputés tels que Le Guess Who, Hop Pop Hop, Swn Festival, Tramlines, DIY Hello 2019 (tête d’affiche), and Brits Week (100 Club en support de IDLES).
En octobre 2020, LICE a publié son premier album, ‘WASTELAND: What Ails Our People Is Clear’. Un opus concept qui met notamment en avant un instrument expérimental, fait-main par le groupe, le Intonarumori.

Bandit Bandit (fr)

FR - Empruntant aux duos iconiques des sixties son charme et sa sensualité, Bandit Bandit livre un son élégant, orgasmique et explosif : dans la musique comme dans l’image, le duo trimballe son énergie rétro accentuée par sa puissance stoner et ses riffs acérés.

De leurs passages remarqués au Trianon ou au MaMa Festival aux sélections des Inouïs du Printemps de Bourges et du Chantier des Francofolies, ces deux amants-là, portés par une basse et une batterie organique, ont à la vie et à la scène la même fièvre d’exister. Un premier EP éponyme ancre les débuts du projet en octobre 2019 : déjà, Bandit Bandit séduit, et inscrit sur la scène rock française une marque brute et sauvage.

Après leur second EP « Tachycardie », sorti en juin 2021, Bandit Bandit ne rêve que d’une chose : rugir à nouveau sur une scène live. 

EN - Borrowing from both the charm and sensuality of iconic sixties duos, Bandit Bandit delivers an elegant, orgasmic and explosive sound: both in terms of their music and their image, the duo carry a retro energy strengthened by a stoner-like power and sharp riffs. 

From their noted appearances at Le Trianon and MaMa Festival, to their selection at the Inouïs du Printemps de Bourges and the Chantier des Francofolies, these two lovers, lifted by an organic bass and beats, have a fever to exist just as strong in real life as they do on stage. A first eponymous EP marked the start of the project back in 2019: so far, Bandit Bandit have already seduced, and left a wild, brutal imprint on French rock. 

Since their second EP ‘Tachycardie’ which was released in June 2021, Bandit Bandit has just one dream: let rip on a live stage once again.
 

After Party: Balades Sonores Brussels

Balades Sonores Brussels is an offshoot of the Parisian eponymous record shop that has been active since 2004 in the French capital. 
 
Fast forward to October 2016, when a shop’s intern decided to move to Brussels and fortuitously discovered a cheap yet also quite dilapidated retail space right in front of the concert hall Le Botanique. With almost no budget and some stock from the Parisian store, they slowly but surely gathered loyal clientele.
 
Until in early 2020, when the building’s owner suddenly ended the lease. Along came the pandemic and the forced closure of all shops for a couple of months, which appeared to be a blessing in disguise. Indeed, Balades Sonores and its 15 000 records went looking for a new spot and quickly found a new home in the Marolles, where they set camp in May of the same year.
 
Nowadays the shop is run by Mathieu, Victor and Florian.
 

Ways Around

Ways Around a émergé de la tête d’une bande de passionnés, professionnels dans le secteur de la musique, en manque viscéral de concerts après cette longue période de silence dans les salles. 

Bravant le manque de perspectives dans le courant de 2020 et 2021, ils ont planché sur le projet d’un nouveau festival à Bruxelles. 

Plus qu'un festival ponctuel, l'objectif est de créer une communauté d'amateurs de musique alternative autour de l'événement et de montrer qu'en ces temps perturbés, de nouvelles initiatives (peu importe leur taille) peuvent être lancées afin de contribuer à la relance de l’activité des groupes et des salles.

The plan was as crazy as it was ambitious. The festival will be held over 3 days in April 2022, at 3 iconic sites across Brussels (one day, one venue); Atelier 210, Le Brass and the Atomium. The line-up remains faithful to the team’s alternative affinities. In total, 12 bands coming from 6 different countries will perform during the festival on its different stages. 
The experience does not end there. Over the weekend, a community village with a variety of activities will be freely accessible to all. In short, anyone can enjoy the Ways Around experience with or without concert tickets.
